Gas Purging Croydon

Commercial Gas Testing, Purging & CP16 Certification

Our Services

What does it involve?

Atlas Gas delivers commercial gas testing, purging, and CP16 certification for businesses, contractors, and property owners. Whether gas is being introduced into a newly installed system, reinstated after building works, or removed during decommissioning linked to alterations, removals, or demolition, our qualified engineers oversee the entire process carefully and in line with current regulations.

Testing and purging are essential steps in confirming that a gas installation is safe before it is either commissioned or permanently removed from use. When new pipework has been fitted, or existing pipework has been altered, a strength test is carried out first to check the overall integrity of the system. After this, a tightness test is performed to ensure there are no leaks before gas is introduced.

Pipework Testing and Purging Croydon

After testing has been completed and confirmed as satisfactory, controlled purging procedures are carried out to either introduce gas into the pipework or remove it, depending on the project’s requirements. Purging is performed carefully in appropriate areas, well away from ignition sources, and follows approved procedures so that gas can be dispersed safely.

All testing and purging activities are conducted in line with IGE/UP/1 (IGUP1) guidance alongside current industry best practice, with safety considered throughout every stage of the work. Where required, Atlas Gas also provides CP16 Gas Safety Certificates, confirming that the installation has been properly tested, purged, and commissioned in accordance with the relevant regulations.

How Our Gas Purgin Engineers Help

Many clients are not particularly familiar with gas procedures, especially when work is taking place on active sites or during building removal projects. Because of that, we aim to keep the process straightforward and well organised. Our team explains what needs to happen in plain terms, arranges the work where coordination is required, and carries it out in a way that keeps disruption to a minimum.
